May fit if
You want to test response speed
Fast API experiments, latency-sensitive prototypes, testing supported open models, and small developer projects.
Access observed
Free developer plan
GroqCloud offers a Free plan for building and testing with its APIs, with paid developer and enterprise options available for higher-scale use.
What you will need
Account and API key
Create a GroqCloud account and API key, then choose a currently supported model and endpoint.
How access works
The free plan is a developer test route
GroqCloud exposes supported text, audio, and vision models through APIs. The current catalog and organization-level limits determine what a free account can test.
Limits and charges
Several limits can stop the same request
Source snapshot, May 2026: Groq docs describe rate limits using requests per minute, requests per day, tokens per minute, tokens per day, audio seconds per hour, and audio seconds per day. Limits can vary by model, account, organization, and tier, so check GroqCloud's current limits before relying on this.
Your data and account
Check the provider boundary before testing data
Requests run on GroqCloud rather than on your device. Review the current service terms, data policy, and account controls before sending private or regulated material.
Before relying on it
Design for a 429 response
Useful for testing and prototypes, but free-plan limits are not production capacity. Applications should handle rate limits and provider-side changes gracefully. Confirm the model-specific RPM, RPD, TPM, TPD, and audio limits shown for your organization, then test fallback and retry behavior before relying on the route.
